Meet the Eldest living members of the Ellen Sumter Brown Family

The eldest living members of Ellen Sumter Brown (four) are: Alberta (Brown) Weston, Ellen Patricia Metze Gray, Mary (Adams) Davis, and Amie (Adams) Montgomery.  Also among the living members of this eldest living generation are Beverly Adams, the spouse of Robert Adams; Lottie Mae Adams, the spouse of Melvin Adams; and Henry Montgomery, the husband of Amie Montgomery.

Ellen Sumter, the second child of Joseph and Matilda Sumter, was born in June 1895. She was affectionately known throughout the family as “Sister Brown.” At an early age she married John Brown, and together they were blessed with one daughter, Rebecca Brown Adams. Both were choir members of the senior choir at Saint Mark Baptist Church. Ellen Sumter Brown loved to sing.

Rebecca Brown Adams continued the family legacy and was the proud mother of ten children: Alberta Brown Weston “Bert”, William  Brown “Buddy”, Annie Louise White “Bay”, Ellen Patricia Meetze Gray “Pat”, Mary Adams Davis “Mae”, Robert Adams “Boychilin”, John  Adams “Rudy”, Lucretia Adams “Crissy”, Melvin Adams “Booth”, and Amie Adams Montgomery “Tot”.
